Bill 39: Let’s take a stand together

I joined 14 of my fellow Councillors in signing a letter to Doug Ford urging him to end his attack on the democratic process with his Strong Mayor Bill (Bill 39 – the so called "Better Municipal Governance Act"). This represents a majority of Toronto City Council and you can view that letter below.
 
As you may already know, Bill 39 will give Mayor Tory the power to approve decisions at Council with the support of only 8 Councillors (or one-third of Council) which goes against the fundamental democratic principal of majority rules as well as disenfranchising the job you elected me to do.
 
Furthermore, in July 2022 Council passed a council resolution whereby City Council requested that the Province consult with the City before enacting any new strong Mayor Powers.
 
If you haven't done so already, please join me and my fellow Councillors in urging Premier Ford and your local MPP to reconsider this dangerous bill:
