Save Marlee Ville
.png)
The Marlee Ville community is petitioning the Ontario government to pause all development applications in the Glencairn–Marlee area.
-
Over 17 residential towers with 5,000+ units are proposed, potentially bringing 10,000+ new residents.
-
The area already suffers from major infrastructure deficits, including:
-
Hard infrastructure: inadequate water, sewer, hydro, and road capacity
-
Community services: limited schools, libraries, recreation and community centres
-
Public safety: insufficient local police station capacity
-
-
The City of Toronto is conducting the “Growing Marlee-Glencairn Study” to address these issues and plan for sustainable development.
-
Despite this, developers continue to appeal to and gain approval from the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT), often overruling City and community objections.
-
The petition requests the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and the Attorney General to:
-
Impose a moratorium on OLT development approvals in the area
-
Wait until the City’s study is complete
-
Ensure transparent community consultation
-
Implement a sustainable infrastructure plan
-
-
Residents warn the community cannot handle unchecked growth without critical infrastructure in place.
Sign the petition to help ensure responsible and community-informed development.
